Zhong Nanshan, the head of the special epidemiological commission of the PRC, suggested that the spread of new coronavirus would last until the beginning of summer. In his opinion, this requires continuation of taking measures on prevention of infection cases. The epidemiologist's statement was published by Hong Kong Economic Times.

“It is necessary to strengthen sanitary control at the borders and establish strict quarantine policies for visitors from foreign regions affected by the epidemic,” said Zhong Nanshan.

The epidemiologist added that in Guangdong, which is the center of the transportation system in China, assistance may be required to control the arrival of people from potentially dangerous places. Additional medical equipment may be required for this purpose — tests for determining the Covid-19 virus, protective medical kits, technologies for treating the disease.

The representative of the National Health Commission of China, Mi Feng, said that the country had passed the peak of spread of coronavirus.

A new type of coronavirus was detected at the end of December 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan. On March 11, the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic.
